Christian men conference sees Twitter criticism following video of monster trucks, wrestling and rodeo

by Sophie Drew

A clip from a Christian conference has gone viral online, leading many to question the nature of the event.

The Stronger Men’s Conference - based in Missouri - received criticism after a clip of the event was posted on Twitter.

The video shows a monster truck driving into an arena as electronic music blares and pyrotechnics explode.

Hosted by John Lindell, the event also included rodeo bull-riding, wrestling and a “Dive of Doom” for guests to enjoy.

In amongst the performances, preachers – including Louie Giglio and Chad Veach - shared sermons.

Despite many attendees verifying that they had a great weekend, others criticised the event on Twitter.

“Nothing quite delivers that Jesus message of feeding the hungry, caring for the sick and loving everyone, like a monster truck rally,” one critic posted.

Another said: “It looks like every toxic masculinity stereotype under one roof.”

A third posted: “I can’t stop laughing… this is either a Simpsons episode or idiocracy”

The video has been watched more than 1 million times on Twitter alone, and is rapidly racking up views on other forms of social media.

However, not everyone was against the event. One Twitter user said: “Looks like a lot of fun. not sure why anyone would be triggered by this unless they lack any sense of community and only want to tare down others who try to form one.”
