Christian Broadcasting Network slashes jobs amid challenging media landscape

by Premier Journalist

Prominent faith-based media company The Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) has announced plans to cut 8.4% of its workforce as it seeks to “focus resources on areas of growth and long-term impact”.

Founded in 1960 by the late television evangelist Pat Robertson, CBN operates television, digital and charitable ministries and reaches millions worldwide through its various platforms.

In a statement, the company said the cuts were “necessary adjustments” in response to an increasingly challenging media environment.

“In a rapidly changing media and fundraising landscape, we are committed to being good stewards of the resources entrusted to us and to making thoughtful, necessary adjustments to streamline our systems in support of our mission and our donors,” the statement said.

CBN said that in 2025 it reached “a projected 745 million people worldwide through its programming based on audience surveys”, with 90% of its audience located outside the United States.

“Looking ahead, CBN is exploring opportunities to expand its presence internationally, including the potential opening of offices in multiple countries, which would further strengthen our global impact,” it added.

The company did not specify how many staff members were affected by the layoffs. A 2024 filing reportedly listed CBN as employing around 1,100 people in the United States.

CBN confirmed to The Roys Report that the layoffs would not affect its humanitarian arm, Operation Blessing.
