Bobbie Houston asks for prayer ahead of husband's court appearance

by Sophie Drew

Bobbie Houston – wife of former Hillsong megachurch leader Brian Houston – has asked for prayer ahead of her husband’s court appearance.

Brian Houston will be appearing in court to defend himself against allegations that he concealed his father’s sexual abuse crimes.

The prosecutors suggest he knew about potential abuse for up to five years before the death of his father.

He has pleaded not guilty to concealing a serious indictable offence of another person.

Brian’s wife, Bobbie, has shared a post on Instagram asking for prayers of support.

Taking to Instagram, she said: “Three weeks to when it begins” under a picture of a female warrior.

The post continued: “When you see this ‘warrior’ image, join me and others and post a scripture that resonates or pray a Word and faith-based prayer that I know will go before us all.”

She finishes the post by saying: “Contentious stuff I will remove because speaking faith, redemption and ultimately a Christ-centred story of Grace will do more for the land and the people of this nation than hated. Mercy triumphs over judgement.”

Brian Houston resigned from his role as Hillsong global leader after an investigation revealed the 68-year-old had behaved inappropriately against two female members of staff.

However, he has since posted a video on his social media platforms telling his side of the story, and hinting at a return to the pulpit.
