Kay Arthur, internationally known Bible teacher, author and co-founder of Precept Ministries International, has died at the age of 91.

Arthur authored more than 100 Bible studies and books, championing the inductive Bible study method that has reached millions worldwide.

Her teaching emphasised observing, interpreting and applying Scripture, and she was best known for her long-running TV and radio programme Precepts for Life, which aired in over 30 countries.

Born in Jackson, Michigan in 1933, Arthur and her husband, Jack Arthur, founded Precept in the 1970s, beginning with a small Bible study in their home.

The ministry now operates in nearly 190 countries and over 110 languages.

Arthur received numerous accolades throughout her life, including awards from the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association and the National Religious Broadcasters as well as honorary doctorates for her biblical scholarship.

She is survived by her three sons, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
