According to Daily Mail Australia John O'Leary is speaking after he turned down a £1.47 million offer on the equestrian centre he's selling in Adelaide, after learning the Muslim buyers plan to use the 11-acre site to build a mosque.
John O'Leary told the paper some local residents have been protesting after the construction of one mosque was recently started in the Green Fields area of north-east Adelaide. Another has recently been given planning permission. The two buildings are costing millions of pounds to build.
Mr O'Leary also said some Christians have been applying for permission to arm themselves with guns, because of the fears they have about the increasing presence of Islam.
The owner of Gainsborough Equestrian Centre supports the right-wing One Nation party, which some have accused of wrongly stirring up anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim sentiment.
He said: "The Christians that I know, and I know many, are silently fearful at the moment, including one that I know who's a pillar of his church has just gone and got his gun licence.
"Christians are paranoid. They are giving sermons about the danger of the Muslims coming.
"It is well known and proven that the Muslims don't agree with Christianity. That's been seen in the Middle East lately and around the world.
"I don't want to see the crime that I see on the news."
