Atheist society secretary resigns after finding Jesus

by Premier Journalist

The former secretary of a society called Atheists In Kenya has resigned from his role after becoming a Christian.

A video has emerged showing Seth Mahiga accepting Jesus in church. He said he had been experiencing "difficulties in life" prior to his resignation from the role of secretary at Atheists in Kenya.

A pastor in the video can be heard saying "Amen" at the end of Mr Mahiga's words and adding "can we give the Lord some praise in this house. Hallelujah!"

The Atheists in Kenya Society posted the footage on its Twitter page, describing the conversion as "surreal".

The Society had also released a statement announcing Mr Mahiga's resignation. "Seth's reason for resigning is that he has found Jesus Christ and is no longer interested in promoting atheism in Kenya."

"We wish Seth all the best in his new found relationship with Jesus Christ. We thank him for having served the society with dedication over the last one and half years," it added.

According to a report by Statista, Christianity is the main religion in Kenya. Data from 2019 showed over 85 percent of the population identified as Christians.

According to The Atheists in Kenya website, it's the first non-religious society to be registered in the country and was established in 2016.

Christians took to Twitter to welcome Seth Mahiga as a brother in Christ.

"May your witness and joy influence many for Christ!" wrote Brian Stowe, Pastor of First Baptist Church in Plant City, Florida.

"This is amazing. Praise the Lord that Seth Mahiga has surrendered to Jesus as his Lord and savior! I'm praying that this decision leads others to Christ as well," said Alex Inman, Worship Pastor of Warren Community Church.
