New survey reveals American White Evangelical Christians are more likely than other religious groups to oppose abortion

by Alex Collett

A new study has revealed American white Evangelical Christians are more likely than other religious groups to oppose abortion.

That's according to a new Pew Research who conducted a number of polls in recent days within a survey of of 11,044 Americans,

Whilst the study showed that 61% of Americans think abortion should be legal, the only religious group that overwhelmingly opposes abortion is white evangelicals, 73% of whom say abortion should be illegal.

From a survey conducted in 1995, 60% said the same.

Many white evangelicals celebrated earlier this week when a leaked draft opinion showed that a majority of Supreme Court justices are ready to overturn Roe v. Wade and eliminate women’s constitutional right to abortion.

The ruling is expected in June.
