A new Bible app built for teenagers is hoping to build habits of reguarly reading scripture among young people.
Bible Loop is the newest app relseased by YouVersion, the developer behind the Bible app, and offers a verse memorisation game, daily check-in devotional content and interactive lessons for young adults.
The app, which was developed alongside global evangelical outfit OneHope, is available on Android and iOS in Spanish, Portuguese and French as well as English.
Founder and CEO of YouVersion Bobby Gruenewald said he believes that teens are a crucial group to reach with the word of God.
"We're grateful to OneHope for sharing their expertise in reaching young people with the Gospel,” he said. “Together, our hope is that Bible Loop helps teens develop daily rhythms of Scripture engagement that make a real difference in their lives today and serve them well into the future."
Bible Loop is the latest of YouVersion’s apps for younger people alongside Bible App for Kids.
Research commissioned by the Church of England and conducted by Theos this summer found that social media was an initial point of contact with Jesus that led them to testimonies and reading the Bible.
But Bible Society research for Lumino also indicated that only one-in-five young people thought the Bible had the potential to help them answer deep questions.
Meanwhile in the United States, Bible reading spiked upwards in 2025, with 42% of all adults and half of all Christians reading the Bible - according to polling by Barna.
Just under half of Gen Z adults said they read the bible, up 19% from the year before, neck and neck with millennials as the two age groups most likely to read scripture compared to Gen X and Boomers.
OneHope said that Gen Alpha spends more than four hours online every day and weekly engagement with the Bible fell by 15% from ages 6-9 to ages 10-12 in 2021 research.
"OneHope's research shows that the preteen years are critical for spiritual development, yet this is often when intentional discipleship at home begins to decline," Rob Hoskins, president of OneHope added.
"That's why Bible Loop is so essential today. We're meeting the next generation where they are, helping preteens engage meaningfully with God's Word and build habits that lay a foundation for a lifelong relationship with Jesus."
