A young woman in South Carolina has finished a nine-year project to copy the entire Bible in handwriting.

The project began when her father Kenny Campbell found documents in their attic that were handwritten copies of Scripture made by his daughter. Kenny expressed amazement at the project and asked his daughter Caroline, 28, how much of the bible she had written and then challenged her to copy out the whole of the Old Testament and the New Testament.

The next nine years were spent completing the project, where she copied down every word of Scripture in handwriting. Caroline, who has Downs Syndrome, started the project when she was 19 in 2012. She finally finished it this year, after working from Genesis to Revelation. The project ended up being an estimated 782,815 words and 10,000 pages compiled across 43 binders. She would invest about two hours every day into the project, regardless of where they were.

Caroline told Christianity Today that: "She persisted out of her devotion to the Bible and her desire to encourage others" and that she "wants to inspire people to learn the Bible."

Carl Broggi, the Campbells' pastor at Community Baptist Church in Beaufort County, SC, told Christianity Today: "We are so proud of Caroline. She is a great testimony for our church and for the Lord," and that "Caroline has been such an inspiration to so many, both in and outside our congregation."

Caroline's family hopes that stories like hers will encourage both families and churches to be more receptive to people with different health conditions.
