The Christian humanitarian group World Relief has changed up its leadership, with former staff member Myal Greene taking over as the president.

In February 2021, World Relief president Scott Arbeiter and CEO Tim Breene announced plans to resign from World Relief's leadership. Arbeiter had served with the organization for nearly 30 years. The pair had spent several years serving among Evangelicals, often a critical nonprofit figurehead pushing for better immigration policy and international missions.

They have now chosen their replacement, Myal Greene. "During my fourteen years with World Relief, I have seen God at work in our organization in countless ways," stated Myal in a written statement. "I am grateful for the extraordinary leadership of Tim and Scott, and I am continuously inspired by our more than 1,500 staff in the U.S. and around the world. I believe God has used all of my experiences to equip me for this new role and to help me magnify the life-changing work our team is doing."

Myal, who has been with the organization for 14 years, has served in several roles within the organization. His most recent was as World Relief's senior vice president of international missions. While in that role, Myal sought to expand World Relief's efforts and push for more gender-equity-focused initiatives. The executive began working with World Relief by organizing their Church Empowerment Zone program. This endeavor allowed World Relief to establish more than 5,000 churches across nine countries. He later moved on to become World Relief's Rwanda director, expanding the country's internal presence and later moving into larger offices.

Both Breene and Arbeiter expressed much hope for Myal's leadership at World Vision. "He has substantially increased the depth, breadth, and impact of our international work while simultaneously growing in his understanding and commitment to our U.S.-based work among refugee and immigrant populations. Myal has a unique set of gifts, passions, and experiences that make him an outstanding choice to lead World Relief into the future."

Myal currently holds a B.S. in finance from Lehigh University, an M.A. from Fuller Theological Seminary in global leadership, and is working toward a Ph.D. in organizational leadership from Eastern University.
