Muslim militants slaughtered families in the Christian village Ndomete on Friday. They reportedly went from door to door, seeing if people were Christians before murdering them.
They said: "If the government is not going to beef up the security, then we are going to defend ourselves.
"We shall not keep quiet as our brothers are dying."
The faith leader also told Morning Star News that Christians are not convinced United Nations peacekeepers already deployed in the country are making a difference.
There has been violence in CAR since 2013.
Fighting has been taking place between Seleka, a Muslim rebel group that helped overthrow the CAR government in 2013, and Christian militia known as anti-Balaka for the past two years.
Human Rights Watch says that executions, mass rape and looting has been taking place across the nation.
In May eleven people were killed in a church in CAR.
