The art work, named Peace on Earth, shows what seems to be the Virgin Mary praying, however her halo has been replaced with the Campaign for Nuclear Disarment symobol (CND) and her face with the planet Earth.
Speaking to The Guardian he said that: "I wanted to make an image that makes people think - and isn't too horrific for them to put on their wall."
He added that: "The art market has become really disgusting.
"When a Van Gogh goes for a lot of money at auction, they all stand up and clap.
"That's the most horrific thing.
"It's really important to put things out into the world that aren't for commercial profit."
Peter Kennard is offering his image for free as an online download.
His latest work looks back to the treatment of refugees in Europe, as well as the COP21 climate conference and Paris terror attacks.
He said: "I use that image of our planet a lot - which is what we're destroying.
"The refugee crisis is so horrific, and the way human beings are being talked about in terms of 'how many can we take' is so demeaning."
