Jozef Wesolowski is currently under house arrest in Rome and has now been told he'll face a Vatican trial for alleged sex abuse whilst working as the papal envoy to the Dominican Republic.
It's alleged he carried out assaults on children between 2008-2013 in the Caribbean nation.
He's also been charged with having child pornography at his home in Rome in 2013.
Wesolowski, from Poland, was expelled from the priest hood in June 2014 and had been waiting to hear if the Church would take further action.
If he's found guilty he could be extradited back to the Dominican Republic to face another trial.
The Holy See's press office had previously said Pope Francis wanted the case looked at "justly and rigorously" and was being "duly and carefully informed".
The trial is to begin on 11 July.
