Vatican officials have offered a homeless woman a place to stay after she gave birth near St Peter's Square.
Local police stopped when they saw her struggling in the early hours of the morning, when temperatures were hovering around freezing.
After giving her extra clothes, they alerted an ambulance to take her to a nearby hospital.
It was there she was visited by Monsignor Konrad Krajewski who oversees the Vatican's work with the homeless.
He offered her a place for the year at the Vatican-owned residence for mothers and babies in need - it's unknown if the offer was accepted.
