US televangelist says gay and transgender people should carry a hazard label on their foreheads

by Premier Journalist

Pastor Andrew Wommack has argued that gay and transgender people should have "a label across their forehead" saying the lifestyle is "hazardous" to their health.

The Conservative televangelist, 72, made the comments on his Truth & Liberty Livecast adding unsubstantiated medical claims.

"It's a very destructive lifestyle. They have 20 years less that the homosexual lives than a heterosexual. And, you know, cigarettes take an average of seven years off a person's life, so homosexuality is three times worse than smoking," he argued. "We ought to put a label across their forehead, 'This can be hazardous to your health.'"

The outspoken critic against transgender rights also alleged high suicide rates among gay people and even higher rates for people who are transgender.

Pastor Wommack has long urged his followers "to take back Colorado" from the "demon-possessed" socialists and Democrats.

The Texas native started teaching Bible studies with his wife Jamie in 1972. In 1976, he broadcast his first radio programme in Childress, Texas. The couple and their two sons moved in 1980 to the Colorado Springs area. He went on to become a televangelist broadcasting on multiple networks around the world.

Pastor Wommack is the founder of Charis Bible College, an unaccredited bible college that opened in 1994 in Colorado.
