A prominent U.S. evangelical leader has warned that parts of the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement are turning against Israel and suggested that some of the rhetoric is worse than the Nazi Party platform of 1920.
“Right now we are having a movement within the MAGA movement that is anti-Israel,” Dr. Mike Evans, founder of the Friends of Zion (FOZ) Heritage Center and Museum, told the Jerusalem Post. In October, Carlson interviewed Nick Fuentes on his podcast. Fuentes is known for his deeply antisemitic, racist, and misogynistic worldviews.
Both men decried conservatives who support Israel. According to The Guardian, Carlson called out Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas), former president George W. Bush, and Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, calling them "Christian Zionists."
"I dislike them more than anybody," Carlson said.
According to Evans, the anti-Israel rhetoric is being led by influential media figures who are close to senior U.S. officials.
“It is very serious because it is led by Tucker Carlson, who is very close to the vice president,” Evans added. “He is coming out and saying worse things presently than the Nazi Party said at their platform in 1920.”
Evans’ warning comes as he brings together a delegation of 1,000 Christian pastors and influencers to Israel under FOZ for intensive training as ambassadors for both Israel and the United States. The group is described as the largest U.S. Christian delegation to visit the country. Organizers aim to help counter what it calls an “ideological war” against Israel, particularly among younger audiences.
According to Evans, countries that are hostile to Israel are investing in universities and media outlets, and using artificial intelligence to shape the views of Young Americans.
“Qatar has put hundreds of billions into the United States and into the university campuses, and now they are using the big ‘Antichrist monster’ of them all, AI, to poison the minds of the young people,” he told the outlet.
