DoJ launches investigation after church ‘stormed’ by anti-ICE protesters

by Anna Rees Green

The US Department of Justice says it will launch an investigation in the wake of video footage appearing to show a church being stormed by anti-ICE protestors.

The video, which has been widely shared on social media, shows a group of around a dozen people marching into a church service, holding their hands up and shouting: “ICE out, ICE out!”.

A senior leadership member at Cities Church in St Paul, Minnesota, has allegedly been working for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

One protestor in the group told former CNN reporter Don Lemon: “This will not stand, they cannot pretend to be a house of God, while harboring someone who is commanding ICE agents to terrorize our communities.”

In another video, Lemon interviews the church's pastor as the protest continues.

"This is unacceptable. It's shameful to interrupt a public gathering of Christians in worship," the church leader said. "I have to go take care of my flock now."

The Trump administration has branded the protestors “agitators."

Attorney General Pamela Bondi claimed the so-called “attack” would be met with “the full force of the law."

She continued: “If state leaders refuse to act responsibly to prevent lawlessness, this Department of Justice will remain mobilised to prosecute federal crimes and ensure the rule of law prevails.”
