Three more missionaries held hostage in Haiti have been released.

Christian Aid Ministries confirmed that the American and Canadian missionaries, who had been held in captivity since October, were released last night.

The Ohio-based organisation said: “We are thankful to God that three more hostages were released last night. Those who were released are safe and seem to be in good spirits.”

As with the previous occasion, they did not provide the names of the people released, the circumstances of the release, or any other details.

But they urged people to keep on praying for the 12 hostages still being held, as well as those who have been released.

“We long for all the hostages to be reunited with their loved ones,” they said.

The Christians were among a group of 16 people, which included five children, who were kidnapped by a Haitian gang demanding $1 million for each hostage.

An 8-month-old baby was one of those taken.

The previous release happened just over two weeks ago, when two missionaries returned to their families.

Christians around the world have been praying for the safe release of the hostages.
