Julius Kim will take over from Don Carson as the President of the group on 1st February.
The Gospel Coalition (TGC) is a group of pastors, elders and theologians who produce articles and resources for those in Christian ministry worldwide. It was founded by evangelical preachers Don Carson and Tim Keller in 2005 and has a reformed Protestant outlook with contributing writers from all over the world on their website.
Julius Kim, a college dean, professor of practical theology at Westminster Seminary in California and ordained minister, was elected by The Gospel Coalition's council, which includes John Piper, on 15th January 2020.
Kim was born in Los Angeles and spent much of his childhood in South Korea, returning to California when he was 12.

He's been a visiting scholar at Cambridge University and Torch Trinity Graduate School of Theology in Seoul, South Korea, and currently lives in California with his wife, Ji Hee, and two daughters, serving as an associate pastor at New Life Presbyterian Church in Escondido.
He said: "I am profoundly humbled and grateful that the Board and Council of TGC has granted me this privilege to serve Christ as its next president.
"It is my sincere hope and prayer that as the Lord has so faithfully blessed this ministry for the past 15 years, he will provide even more blessing as we strive to make Christ and his gospel known to the church worldwide."
Outgoing President Don Carson, 73, will become 'Theologian at Large', mostly writing and working on TGC's international links.

Carson said of Kim's appointment: "It is with real confidence in the goodness of God that I look forward to the leadership of Julius Kim as he takes over the presidency of the organisation,
"His commitment to confessionalism in the Reformed heritage, his years of teaching and pastoral experience, and his enormous skill in the domain of personal relationships, combine with the vision he shares with TGC leadership to prepare him for this strategic role."
Author and founder of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York, Tim Keller, said Kim was an academic and a pastor with much experience of applying theology to practical life.
Nancy Guthrie, TGC contributor and frequent host of the Help Me Teach The Bible podcast, wrote on Twitter that she "couldn't be happier" with the choice.
Kevin DeYoung, author of 'Just Do Something' and chairman of TGC's Board, said: "He understands all that must not change about TGC - our purpose, our theology, our convictions - while not being afraid to dream about new ventures and new ideas for the future."
