A prominent actor from the Christian television series The Chosen has visited Pope Francis in the Vatican, fulfilling a childhood dream.
Award-winning actor Jonathan Roumie, best known for his role as Jesus, posted two Instagram clips this week featuring his visit to the Vatican. Roumie had journeyed to the Catholic capitol alongside Dallas Jenkins, creator of The Chosen.
While doing so, they received a chance to meet Pope Francis. Roumie described the experience as "The honor of my spiritual life, and a childhood dream realized" on his Instagram.
"No words….Beyond graced…," he added. "Gracias Santo Padre @franciscus for your time and blessings! Deepest gratitude to my friend @breedail for helping me get here and @dallas.jenkins for capturing this unparalleled moment in history for me."
The clip features Roumie speaking with Pope Francis in Spanish, asking if the Pope would pray for Roumie due to his role in portraying Christ. Pope Francis responded in Spanish: "May you invite Him, may you find Him, and may He grant you joy."
"This is really fascinating for me," the show creator Jenkins told the Christian Post. "As a Protestant, I don't have a whole lot of passion for something like this, but it's certainly an amazing opportunity and represents the growth of this show around the world."
