Tennis star turned pastor boycotts Qantas over same-sex marriage

Court, 74, a Perth resident, said in a letter published in the West Australian newspaper: "I am disappointed that Qantas has become an active promoter for same-sex marriage.

"I believe in marriage as a union between a man and a woman as stated in the Bible."

The Australian Margaret Court Arena will not be renamed despite the former player's opposition of gay marriages.

Tennis Australia, the national body for participation and facilitation of tennis in Australia said on its Twitter page that her "personal views are her own".

The venue was originally called Show Court One when it opened in 1988 but was renamed in 2003 in tribute to the 24-time Grand Slam winner.

The chief executive of Qantas, Alan Joyce, recently had a pie thrown in his face in front of hundreds of people at a business breakfast in Perth by Tony Overheu, 67.

Overheu was charged with assault among other crimes for the incident and banned by Qantas from flying with them.
