A Christian organisation has stressed how important positive time with family can be.
Chris Muwanguzi, CEO of Family Matters Institute, was speaking after a new survey has revealed that 8 out of 10 parents say holidays improve family bonds.
He told Premier's News Hour that most people do not spent that much time at home: "We don't see our families a lot during the day, we spend three to four hours with them, we come back and we're tired, we see them when we're frustrated from other things in our day.
"So going on holiday means we have nothing to think about but them and the fun we have with them."
The document also said that 82% of people think trips away bring people closer to their loved ones, and over two thirds of those asked felt their family communicates better or more openly while on holiday.
Chris Muwanguzi was speaking after Holiday Hypermarket conducted a survey of 2,000 parents looking into how the UK's families feel about travel in 2015.
Most parents said that they felt the family was stronger when they were on holiday because their parenting style was more relaxed than when they were at home, and that they were able to leave work at home.
He added that it is all about quality time: "It's not how much - it's how good the time is - so allowing people time with their children, whether it's over the weekend, whether it's only three to four days in the month - will have better relationships with their children, because you're allowing that time to become theirs."
