Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes praised God for the team's Super Bowl LVIII victory on Sunday night, highlighting the Lord's role in challenging the team throughout the season.

The Chiefs secured their third Super Bowl win in five seasons, staging a comeback from a 10-point deficit to claim a 25-22 victory against the San Francisco 49ers—the same team they defeated in Super Bowl LIV in 2020.

The Chiefs became the first team in the last 20 years to win back-to-back Super Bowls since the New England Patriots achieved this feat in 2004 and 2005.

Mahomes, who threw for 333 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception, securing his third Super Bowl Most Valuable Player Award, expressed gratitude in a post-game interview on CBS.

He acknowledged the team's resilience in the face of adversity throughout the season, particularly when the offense encountered challenges.

"It means a ton. Just the adversity we dealt with this year and to come through. The guys never faltered," said the 28-year-old father of two. "I give God the glory. He challenged us to make us better. I am proud of my guys. They did awesome. Legendary."

Chiefs owner Clark Hunt also gave glory to God in his comments after receiving the Vince Lombardi Trophy on stage.

"First of all I want to congratulate [head coach] Andy [Reid], the football team, our coaching staff on an incredible performance. It's been an amazing five-year run," Hunt said. "I want to thank the Lord for giving us this opportunity."
