Elevation Church, led by Steven Furtick and headquartered in North Carolina, has announced it collected over $108 million (£84m) in tithes and offerings in 2023, driven by a notable increase in weekly service attendance.
The church has expanded to three new locations, bringing its total to 19 branches across North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Florida, Belmont, and Canada. According to the church’s annual report, in-person attendance rose by 21 per cent despite their decision last year to leave the Southern Baptist Convention, the USA’s largest Protestant denomination.
The report highlights $97.28 million (£75m) in tithes and offerings, with an additional $11.12 million (£8m) from a year-end offering—an extra contribution encouraged as “above and beyond the tithe", according to church posts.
The report also reveals that the church operates two charities: EC Winston LLC and Million Little Miracles LLC. The latter allows licensed church staff to act as general contractors for internal construction projects with budgets of $500,000 (£390,000) or less. Additionally, the church owns a for-profit company, EC Property Corp., where it invested $1.5 million (£1.1m) for 1,000 shares of common stock.
While Steven Furtick’s exact earnings from the church remain unclear, the expense report lists over $31 million (£24m) in personnel costs. The report also notes that 21,429 people made decisions for Christ last year, and 4,003 were baptised at its campuses.
According to the church website, twelve per cent of every dollar tithed goes "towards outreach efforts on a local, national, and global level".
