Self-styled 'prophet' and pastor shoots wife dead outside workplace

A Florida church is reeling after their pastor was arrested on suspicion of shooting dead his wife. Sylvester Ofori, 35, who leads the Floodgates of Heaven International Ministries, opened fire on his wife, Barbara Tommey, 27, last week while she was outside her workplace.

Ofori, who has more than 60,000 followers on Facebook, is a self-styled charismatic pastor described by his church as “a powerful internationally known prophet of the Most High God".

The day before the slayings, he posted an ominous message to Facebook which read: "One thing ppl gotta understand about extremely kind, nice, loving people is that their other side is just as EXTREME."

Prosecutors say the killing was caught on CCTV, detailing that Oferi not only shot his wife but then stood over her body and put additional rounds into her head.

In 2016, Ofori was arrested for resisting an officer after police were called to deal with a confrontation between him and his wife.

"We are all devastated. I have no words. I’m just devastated,” a representative of the church told The Christian Post, noting that didn’t see any signs there was trouble” in the couple's marriage.
