Supermarket Sainsbury's has been accused of dismissing a churchgoer because she refused to take on additional Sunday morning shifts, which would have stopped her attending church.
According to Kent Online, Jacqueline Rendell, from Herne Bay, was told she would need to move onto a new contract back in 2021 but that her current contract would also come to a close.
The new contract allegedly required her to work every Sunday instead of once a fortnight.
Mrs Rendell said she had suggested a potential job share which would have allowed her to not work on Sundays, but this was rejected by Sainsbury's.
Despite mediation, the case ended up at an employment tribunal last month.
A reserved judgement was given - with a verdict expected in December.
Premier has contacted Sainsbury's for comment.
