Royal Wedding bishop discharged from hospital

by Kelly Valencia

The bishop who preached at Harry and Meghan’s wedding has been discharged from hospital after experiencing internal bleeding for a second time this year.

Bishop Michael Curry, the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church in the US, remained in hospital for a few days this week as doctors were “weighing the potential risks of surgery to remove his right adrenal gland” which seemed to be causing the internal bleeding.

Now, in a statement, the church has confirmed Bishop Michael is at home resting and announced the 70-year-old is scheduled to undergo surgery on the 8th of September. His surgeon estimates his recovery period after the operation will be two to three weeks.

In May, Bishop Michael suffered a similar episode with internal bleeding and irregular heartbeats. At the time, he was treated for atrial fibrillation.

The church is urging Christians to join in prayer for Bishop Michael, his family and the medical team.

Earlier this week, Bishop Michael said: “I am so grateful for your prayers.”

“I expect that the work of the medical team will lead to healing that will make a difference. Fervent prayer plus good medical care is a powerful combination. In all things, God is good.”
