Premier understands reports a Pakistani Christian pastor has been shot dead are not correct.
It was suggested that Zafar Bhatti was one of two people involved in a gun attack at a prison in Rawalpindi, but charity Release International says that is not the case.
It is thought the pastors cellmate could have been the one killed in the attack, which was allegedly carried out by a prison officer.
Mr Bhatti was charged in July 2012 under blasphemy laws, amid allegations he had insulted the Prophet Muhammad in text messages.
But it has been confirmed that a man from Edinburgh, also accused of blasphemy, was injured in the attack.
The Foreign & Commonwealth Office later said it has raised concerns about the shooting of Mohammad Asghar, 70, at a senior level.
