Rapper praying for families of those who died at his concert

by Premier Journalist

A rapper has expressed his grief over fans who died at his concert, saying he wants to “send out prayers” to those affected.

American singer Travis Scott was performing onstage at the Astroworld festival in Houston, Texas, when panic broke out and the crowd began to press towards the stage. Ten fans were killed in the panic.

The youngest, Ezra Blount, a nine-year-old boy, died on Sunday of his injuries.

Scott said: “I just want to send out prayers to the families of those that was lost…Everyone, just continue to keep your prayers…I am honestly just devastated.”

Lawyer Ben Crump, speaking on behalf of Blount’s family described his death as “absolutely heartbreaking”.

He added: “This should not have been the outcome of taking their son to a concert."

Scott, whose hits include Wash Us In The Blood and Stop Trying To Be God, invokes religious imagery in his videos, which are sometimes deemed controversial. But he confirmed in an interview with The Face Magazine last year that he was brought up to believe, and he still “finds faith in everything”.
