Prince Charles meets head of Romanian Orthodox Church

The Prince of Wales is taking part in a nine day European tour; he will be joined by the Duchess of Cornwall today.

Prince Charles and Patriarch Daniel met at his palace in Bucharest on Thursday. The pair exchanged gifts; Prince Charles received a religious icon made of stain glass and portraying St Andrew.

Patriarch Daniel was gifted with a framed photo of the future King of England and a set of dinner plates decorated with floral scenes.

The Prince told the senior cleric the plate designs were based on flowers from his own garden.

Later in the day, the pair visited the Patriarchal Cathedral where a short performance was performed by a Byzantine choir.

The Prince of Wales also visited Stavropoleos Church on Friday

The next stage of the tour will see Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla travel to Italy; where they are scheduled to meet Pope Francis before visiting Austria.
