The president of both the Latin and Argentinian Evangelical Alliance has died after fighting against Covid-19.
Pastor Rubén Proietti was admitted to the West Kendall Baptist Hospital in Miami at the beginning of August with breathing difficulties. He was later moved to the ICU unit, and although there were some improvements to his health, the situation worsened.
In a statement, ACIERA, the Argentinian Evangelical Alliance, said: "Dear brothers and sisters, we would like to inform you that this morning Pastor Rubén Proietti, president of ACIERA, passed away to the presence of the Lord.
"Let us pray for the family, who are grateful for the support, prayers and affection that many have shown during this time."
The 74-year-old was heavily involved in Luis Palau's ministry and worked alongside the also deceased Luis Palau for 40 years organising his conferences across Latin America.
Pastor Rubén was also known for his active participation on public debates about abortion and leading pro-life demonstrations in Argentina, as the country was due to vote the legalisation of the practice.
Argentina legalised abortion in December 2020, becoming the largest Latin American country to do so.
The Latin Evangelical Alliance said: "We are infinitely grateful for the prayers and affection shown to us during this time, without a doubt Ruben's legacy will always be in the unity of the body of Christ.
"To God be all the glory. See you soon..."
Ruben is survived by his wife Adriana Proietti and his four children.
