Prayers needed after crash kills family, leaving only 5-year-old survivor

by Kelly Valencia

A US church congregation is mourning the loss of a family of five involved in a deadly car crash, which left only one survivor.

Four of the five in the Masons'Masons' car died: the driver, 43-year-old Dakarai Mason; 35-year-old Erin Mason, a member of the local police department; 15-year-old Brandon Crawford; and 6-year-old Titus Mason.

According to local officers, the Masons' car was travelling home from a church service when it was involved in a multi-car crash and chain reaction.

Titus was taken to hospital in a critical condition but succumbed to his injuries shortly afterwards.

According to a family statement, the fifth member, Noah, has been discharged from the hospital and is expected to fully recover.

Speaking to Atlanta News First, pastor Barry Garland from New Beginnings Church said the family needs prayer for comfort.

"At times like these, family is really all you got to turn to, and this family has really come together and loved one another," pastor Barry added.

New Beginnings is the home church of the children's grandmother and has hosted prayer evenings for the family.

In a social media post, grandmother Laura Self Ingram expressed her gratitude for the prayers and financial support her family has received so far.

"If you ever thought there aren'taren't still good people out there. I promise you we have been shown this week that this just isn't true.

"All of you who reached out with kind words, prayers, a helping hand, food and donations. It has been felt and we will eternally be grateful. So anyone who still doubts only needs to look at the examples that have been set this week.

"We hope each and every person receives a special blessing for the deed that they have done. The Ingram Family," she concluded.
