Prayers for Boris Johnson, Carrie Symonds and their new baby

by Premier Journalist

Carrie Symonds, Boris Johnson's partner, has given birth to a baby boy in a London hospital.

They've received congratulations from many politicians, including the Chancellor Rishi Sunak who tweeted: "Great to hear Downing Street is getting a new resident" and Labour leader Keir Starmer, who said: "Wonderful news. Many congratulations to Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds."

Former Prime Minister David Cameron wrote on Twitter:

The couple are also being prayed for by church leaders, many of whom have written their messages and prayers online too.

The Archbishop of Canterbury wrote:

The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, responded to the news: "May the angels of God be your shield and defender. A candle is lit for the 3 of you and Prayers offered."

Rt Rev Paul Williams, Bishop of Nottingham and Southwell, commented: "Congratulations to the PM Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds on the birth of their child - prayers and thanksgiving for all parents and babies born during this difficult time and for the wonderful midwives & doctors too!"

The Methodist Church also posted their congratulations.
