A prayer book that Mary, Queen of Scots, wrote in is to go on display in Edinburgh

The jewel-like book is believed to have been used during her marriage to the Dauphin Francois. 

It initially belonged to the Queen's great aunt, Louise de Bourbon.

The manuscript is on loan to the National Museum of Scotland in Liechtenstein, from March 31 until August 3. 

The rare book includes a four-line verse written by the late Queen, when she was a teenager in the late 1550s. 

The translated poem reads:"Since you wish to remember me here in your prayers and devout orations,

"I ask you first that you remember what part you have in my affections."

She signed it "vat u meriteras" - meaning "Go, you will be deserving" - and the initials M and F. 

Six pages of the book will be shared, changing every three weeks. 

The page baring Mary's poem will be the first to be shown in March and April. However, you're unlikely to miss out, even if you don't attend the exhibition every three weeks to witness the next page. 

The prayer book has been fully digitised and visitors will be able to scroll through the pages - and the accompanying illustrations created by Archbishop Francois De Rohan - via a QR code. Those visiting the exhibition can find Mary's prayer book, as well as some of her other objects from the permanent display, in the Kingdom of Scots gallery.
