'Please help me': Theo Von opens up about praying to God amid personal struggles

by Mitti Hicks

Comedian and podcast host Theo Von has opened up about a prayer request to God, revealing ongoing personal struggles during a recent episode of his “This Past Weekend” podcast.

e been strug“I’vgling, man,” Von said. “For the past couple years, it’s been a struggle in certain ways with certain behaviours that I’m just not proud of, right? Or really just behaviours that I didn’t want to do anymore.”

According to the Christian Post, Von was responding to a caller who admitted feeling trapped in a cycle of loneliness, poor decisions and regret. Von said he relates to those feelings, adding that he also struggles with seeking help and doubting whether change will last — an internal conflict he brings to prayer.

“I started praying like, ‘God, please help me with this. This is a broken part of me that I bring to you. I need help with it,'” Von said. “And then I would add to my prayer. I would say, ‘Even God, even as I pray to You right now, there’s a part of me that knows I’m probably lying to You. There’s a part of me that knows I’m gonna do that behavior again. So can You come into that part of me and help me there?’”

It is not the first time Von has spoken candidly about his personal life. Last year, he said he and his friend, country music star Morgan Wallen, are part of a Bible study group together. Von has also discussed his struggles with addiction, mental health and emotional loneliness on his podcast, which he said draws him closer to God.
