Pastor shot after praying for Ted Cruz making "miraculous" recovery

Senior Pastor Tim Remington

- Born in Riverside, California
- Tim and his wife Cindy have four children
- Director of Good Samaritan Rehabilitation for alcohol and drug addiction
- Tim and Cindy founded The Altar more than 18-years-ago

Tim Remington was shot a total of six times in the head, lung, hip and shoulder on Sunday while in the car park of his church, The Altar, in Couer d'Alene, Idaho.

Speaking to KREM 2, a CBS-affiliated television station in Coeur d'Alene, The Altar's youth pastor, Danny Cleave, said: "He's recovering. He went through surgery and doctors say he's extremely lucky. We know it's not luck, it was totally God.

"The fact that this happened to him, he really shouldn't be alive, as many times as they shot at him, as close as they were. It's a miracle."

A candlelight prayer vigil held for Tim Remington last night had to be moved to larger venue was attended by up to 750 people, local media reports suggest.

The shooting happened one day after the 55-year-old joined Ted Cruz at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds where he prayed with US Senator for Texas, Ted Cruz.

A spokesperson for the Cruz campaign said: "Our prayers are with Pastor Tim, his family, and the doctors who are supervising his care.

"We pray for his full recovery and are thankful for the efforts of law enforcement to ensure the attacker is swiftly brought to justice."

A motivation behind the shooting is yet to be established.

It's reported police have identified a 30-year-old as the suspected shooter but he remains at large and is thought to be armed and dangerous.
