The pastor and widower of Mica Miller; whose tragic death drew national attention, has been arrested for alleged assault and battery following a confrontation with a protester advocating for justice for his wife.

John-Paul Miller, 45, was charged with third-degree assault and battery on Wednesday 6th November in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, according to reports from the Myrtle Beach Sun News.

The incident unfolded outside his former Solid Rock Church, where protestors gathered as equipment was moved to a new location.

Witnesses say the confrontation began when Miller approached and recorded protester Sandra Caron.

Caron claims that after noticing him, she put her hands behind her back, and Miller allegedly tapped her hat with his phone.

Miller’s attorney, Russel Long, argued that protesters had been attempting to provoke an altercation and described them as the initial aggressors.

Long accused the city of Myrtle Beach of failing to prevent the alleged ongoing harassment of his client.

Mica Miller’s death on 27th April was ruled a suicide, with security footage showing her purchasing a gun that same day.

She later called 911, asking for location tracking so her family could find her body.

She was found at Lumber River State Park, North Carolina, with a fatal, self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Despite the official ruling, some community members have alleged abuse by John-Paul Miller—allegations that remain unsubstantiated.

In recent developments, the FBI conducted a search of his home but has not named him as a suspect.

Protests have been a persistent presence outside Miller’s church since May, demanding answers and justice for Mica.

Since closing Solid Rock Church, Miller has applied to establish a new congregation called Living Water Church in the area.
