Pastor: God stepped in when youth group found infant on motorway

by Tola Mbakwe

Oklahoma City police said a church group returning from an amusement park outing saw the one-month-old child about ten feet from the shoulder of a motorway.

According to local news outlet KFOR, Roger Prater, youth group leader at Abba's House of Worship Center in Ada, Oklahoma thought he saw doll in the car seat. However, when he saw legs kicking he stopped the church bus to check.

He said: "As soon as I put my hand on the handle, both his eyes popped open. I jerked him up and handed him to my wife."
The baby was in a car seat stuffed with $5,500, a birth certificate and a social security card.

Ken Angel, pastor of the church said: "I feel like God used our youth group to save someone's life Saturday because we're here on Earth to fulfil a redemptive purpose.

"God stepped in."

Emergency services who responded believe the child had been left in 33 degree Celsius heat for about 30 minutes. But he appeared to be well looked after before he was abandoned.

Police said the child's mother was located after the incident and has been taken to a hospital for evaluation.
The baby is in state custody.
