Pastor accidentally delivers Facebook Live sermon in cat mask filter

by Heather Preston

A US pastor has accidentally delivered his online preach with Facebook filters switched on.

Scott Mowery from Missouri unknowingly selected the filters button on the social media site during his live streamed talk, transforming his face with googly eyes, cat ears and a wizard's hat.

The pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church in Butler has been delivering digital sermons to his congregation to comply with social distancing measures during the coronavirus pandemic.

The video, recorded on the 27th March shows Mowery delivering a daily devotional on Timothy 2: 1-2 with silly digital disguises on.

He was alerted to the mistake a few minutes into his broadcast when his wife posted that he had filters on.

The video has now gone viral online.

Some have accused Pastor Mowery of doing it for publicity, something he has denied claiming it was an accident and he didn't know it was happening.

"We had another church member saying, 'This is some interesting attire,' and I'm like, 'What? What's going on? I can't see anything'," he told FOX 4.

"You'd never think that ... after having all this training ... that my famous moment would be for having cartoon faces on".
