A teenager accused of stabbing three people in Spain last week reportedly told his mother prior to the attack that he was on a mission to “kill Christians".

On 22nd November, the teenager, currently identified only by his forename Mohammed, was reported to police in connection with three stabbings that took place in the Madrid neighbourhood of Puente de Vallecas,  according to Spanish newspaper El Español.

Police later received further reports from the suspect’s brother, who contacted the authorities to say that the suspect had retreated to his home, was brandishing a large knife, and was acting aggressively, the Daily Mail reported.

Authorities surrounded the home and shot the suspect four times after their taser guns failed to subdue him. The suspect, labelled by police as an Islamic extremist, reportedly cried “Allahu Akbar” and quoted the Qur’an while resisting arrest.

He was carried out of the building on a stretcher to a nearby hospital, where he is recovering under police watch.

The suspect was also confirmed to have been under the influence of drugs on the day of the crime, including possibly Captagon, a substance historically used by ISIS fighters in Syria to “make themselves feel invincible,” according to the Daily Mail.

None of the victims suffered life threatening injuries.
