Nick Foles has won the Super Bowl, now he wants to become a pastor

The quarterback led the Philadelphia Eagles to victory over the New England Patriots, being named Most Valuable Player in the process.

With his career struggling a few years back, Foles says it was his faith that sustained him.

Speaking after picking up football's greatest prize, he said: "I wouldn't be out here without Jesus in my life.

"I don't have the strength to come out here and play this game like that.

"We have struggles as people but that's been my rock."

His journey to the top is all the more remarkable, given he started the season as back-up. He was only given an opportunity following an injury suffered by first choice quarterback Carson Wentz.

While success on the pitch is welcome, Foles says his career after football is most important.

Speaking earlier this week, he said: "I want to be a pastor in a high school. I took a leap of faith last year and signed up to take classes at seminary.

"When I speak to [students], that's such a time of young men and young women's lives that there's a lot of things that are thrown at them.

"So much temptation in this world, so much going on with social media and the internet that you want to talk to them and address it, and share all the weaknesses I have because I've fallen many times.

"It's something I want to do. I can't play football forever. I've been blessed with an amazing platform and it's just a door God has opened, but I still have a lot of school left and a long journey."

Despite the post-career ambitions, having picked up a Super Bowl ring, Foles' football days can be expected to continue for a few more years yet.
