US news anchor Savannah Guthrie and her family have said they are “willing to pay” for the return of their elderly Christian mother, who authorities suspect has been abducted.
Nancy Guthrie, 84, failed to show up for church last Sunday, sparking concern from her church family.
Guthrie’s children, including her famous daughter, were alerted. Their mother was gone from her home, with her heart’s pacemaker out of reach of her mobile phone, to which it was connected via Bluetooth. A trace of Guthrie’s blood was found on her porch.
The three siblings have now released a fresh plea, in response to an alleged ransom note. It is their second appeal to their mother's kidnapper.
“We received your message, and we understand," said Savannah, in the video posted to Instagram."We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her."
"This is the only way we will have peace," she continued. "This is very valuable to us - and we will pay."
Authorities are remaining tight-lipped on what the ransom note said, but have offered a $50,000 (£36,000) reward for any new information.
In a statement shared on social media, Nancy’s fellow church congregation said: “We are praying for mercy. We are praying for her safe return. We are praying for her family.”
