New virtual reality tour shows Jerusalem in Bible times

by Tola Mbakwe

The Tower of David Museum and the ToD Innovation Lab partnered with Lithodomos VR to create Jerusalem VR Tours: Step into History.

It's the first mobile VR walking tour in Israel and takes tourists through the Old City as it was during the time of King Herod, about 2000 years ago.

Eilat Lieber, Director of the Tower of David Museum said: "The best view of Jerusalem is still from the top of King Herod's tower built at the Tower of David Museum. However, until now, it took a distinguishing eye and a creative mind to really imagine the city that was.

'I am excited that today with VR technology, the Tower of David Museum is enabling visitors to Jerusalem to explore the city of today ... and step into history, exploring the city as it was two millennia ago."

The VR headset allows tourists to explore different aspects of ancient Jerusalem including religious life and commercial activities.

The two and a half hour guided tour is available in English and Hebrew. I begins at Tower of David Museum and ending in the Jewish Quarter.
