The Wesley Historical Society's dream of establishing a heritage centre in East Anglia has come to fruition with the opening of the East Anglia Methodist Heritage Centre (EAMHC) in Wighton. The centre focuses on exploring the history of Methodism and the cultural heritage of East Anglia.

After an extensive search, the ideal location was found in the Chapel at Wighton. Previously a primitive Methodist Chapel, it has been transformed into a space filled with exhibits that showcase the influential role of the Methodist Church in the region.

Visitors can explore a diverse range of displays, including the chapel's history, featuring ceremonial trowels used for laying chapel foundation stones. The centre also highlights the Methodist Church's work with children, displaying Sunday school certificates and nostalgic photographs of outings.

Music enthusiasts will appreciate the inclusion of a rocking chair once belonging to the renowned hymn writer Rev. Fred Pratt Green. Many of Rev. Pratt's hymns are still sung during Methodist worship and hold connections to East Anglia.

Additionally, visitors will have the opportunity to view a dedicated section showcasing items related to social outreach, including those linked to overseas missions and the Methodist Church's contributions during World War II.

The centre boasts a library, a café and hosts temporary exhibitions. The inaugural exhibition features a collaboration with the local parish church, presenting an art exhibition of drawings depicting chapels in the Norwich circuit.
