A Catholic diocese in the United States is investigating a possible Eucharistic miracle that may have taken place during the celebration of the Mass at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Connecticut.

While giving Communion a minister said he was running out of hosts and suddenly more hosts appeared. At the end of the Mass on March 5th, Father Joseph Crowley announced to the congregation that a minister had just witnessed something unexplainable :

“One of our Eucharistic ministers was running out of hosts and suddenly there were more hosts in the ciborium. God just duplicated himself in the ciborium. It’s really, really cool when God does these things, and it’s really, really cool when we realize what he's done and it just happened today.

“Very powerful, very awesome, very real, very shocking. But also, it happens, and today it happened. They were running out of hosts and all of a sudden more hosts were there. So today not only did we have the miracle of the Eucharist, we also had a bigger miracle. It's pretty cool.”

The Archdiocese of Hartford is now looking into the possible miracle.

The ‘host’ is sacramental bread that is used in the ritual of Holy Communion.

A Miracle Commission which is made up of theologians and scientific experts is appointed by the Vatican and sifts through hundreds or thousands of miraculous claims. An event needs to be spontaneous, instantaneous and of complete healing to be declared a miracle.
