Pastor Mark Driscoll has criticised conservative influencer Candace Owens for questioning the narrative surrounding the death of Charlie Kirk.
In a YouTube short titled Candace Owens Has Officially Lost Touch With Reality, Driscoll said he “feels sorry” for Owens and insisted she needs “an evaluation.”
“Honestly, she needs to take a break,” he said. “She’s become obsessed with Charlie Kirk in a way that is really unhealthy for a married woman.”
Owens has repeatedly suggested that Kirk was “betrayed” by someone, implicated Israel in his assassination, and claimed that text message evidence from the alleged killer, Tyler Robinson, has been fabricated.
Driscoll said Owens was attempting to be the “de facto defender and spokesperson for the legacy of Charlie Kirk” and insisted that this should be at the “sole discretion of his wife, Erika,” whom he described as a “really remarkable, incredible grieving widow.”
“This is the problem with the internet,” he concluded. “The crazier you are, the more attention you get, but the less helpful you are.”
Tyler Robinson, 22, has been charged with aggravated murder and could face the death penalty if convicted.
He is scheduled to appear in court on January 16 and 30 for his first in-person public hearings.
