An Omaha-based pastor is facing criticism for making claims during a church service that God endorsed the United States Military's capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
Hank Kunneman, the senior pastor of Lord of Hosts Church in Omaha and founder of One Voice Ministries, said that God spoke to him and declared a “divine intervention” to purge nations of “demonic strongholds."
"The spiritual oil and the natural oil of the [of the Earth] does not belong to the forces of darkness or to those who thought that they could bring a one world order," Kummeman stated during a January 4 church service. "This is my reset and the oil of the natural and the oil of the Spirit is Mine, says the Lord."
His words came one day after the U.S. military attacked the South American country on Jan. 3, taking Maduro and his wife into custody. His capture follows months of tension between the U.S. and Venezuela, which included deadly U.S. military strikes against alleged drug boats in the Caribbean Sea, the seizure of two oil tankers, and an increased presence of American forces off Venezuela's coast.
In a statement on the church's website, Kunneman wrote, "Pay attention as the waters near Cuba, Honduras, and the Caribbean as the unusual shaking of the deep will be a sign of exposure as unseen structures in high places will be shaken to their core. This is the season where God’s hand is resetting the old and breaking forth the new!"
Kunneman, an avid supporter of President Donald Trump, is facing scrutiny following his remarks.
"This is the definition of a false religion and false teachings," one person commented under a video posted by TRT World.
"This is what happens when a car salesman becomes a preacher," another person replied.
