President Donald Trump has urged prayer for victims of a fatal mass shooting at Brown University.
Two people have been confirmed dead, with eight in a critical condition and another non-critically injured.
The Ivy League campus on Rhode Island has been put under shelter-in-place lockdown.
“What a terrible thing it is,” Trump said to reporters on Saturday night. “All we can do right now is pray for the victims and for those who were very badly hurt. We’ll inform you later as to what’s happening. It’s a shame. Just pray.”
The shooting took place during an engineering exam on Saturday. The suspect, still at large, is said to have “walked right in” to the building.
Authorities are still searching for a man wearing black clothing.
According to the Gun Violence Archive, it is the 70th school shooting to have taken place in the United States this year.
