Jordan Peterson says 'with God's grace and mercy' he'll work on new Biblical projects during recovery from ill health

Professor Jordan Peterson has given a brief update on his health after spending the past year receiving medical treatment for a number of physical and emotional difficulties.

Peterson, the best-selling author of '12 Rules for Life', said he had been "suffering from severely impaired health" after taking, then ceasing, a strong anti-anxiety medication. The author ended up being admitted to a series of hospitals and clinics across the globe as doctors attempted to ease his gruelling withdrawal symptoms through different treatment methods.

Eventually, Peterson said previously, a Russian treatment facility placed him into an induced coma in order to wean him off the medication safely.

The author said that it was his family who kept him going through what had been "the worst period of my entire life."

"I want to thank my extended family and friends, who went above and beyond the call of duty in my estimation," he said. "I'm certainly not convinced that I would have the character to provide to them what they provided to me. So that was a humbling lesson, I suppose."

Now hopeful that the worst is behind him, Peterson spoke of his future plans to work on a book addressing the Biblical Book of Exodus, along with a lecture series on the Book of Proverbs.

"I'm going to start working on the next book in the Old Testament which is Exodus...that will take a while. But in the interim, I think I'm going to produce videos devoted to Proverbs - the book of wisdom," he said. "You've all heard, no doubt, that wisdom is proverbial - that phrase stems from the Book of Proverbs, which are single sentence aphorisms imparting some truth.

"I think the analysis of those, which can be done in a relatively short period of time, will prove of benefit to me and perhaps those inclined to watch and listen to my analysis."

Peterson concluded by insisting that he was "in much better health."

"I can work again and I really want to," he said. "With God's grace and mercy, I'll be able to start generating original material once again and pick up where I left off."
