In a recent update, former pastor and author of the popular Christain books Practicing the way and God has a name, John Mark Comer shared his relief and gratitude as he returned home to his house in LA, after being evacuated due to the wildfires.
“We got word we could get back home. We just got here safely. Our house is totally fine,” Comer said, adding, “The yard is trashed from the wind, all the food has gone bad (no power for eleven days), and the devastation from the fire in the canyon is unreal.
But all is totally well. Nothing a little family work can’t take care of.”
While the damage to their property was significant, with debris scattered in the yard and spoiled food due to power outages, Comer expressed immense thankfulness that his home was spared from the flames.
“We are immensely grateful. And savoring our ordinary life!” Comer said.
The community has continued to lift up the Comers in prayer, and the family is deeply appreciative of the support.
“We are thankful for God’s protection and for all the prayers,” Comer wrote.
"As the situation in Los Angeles remains dire for many others affected by the fires, we ask for continued prayer, especially for the strength of first responders and comfort for those who have lost their homes and loved ones. We also pray that the city may sense God’s presence during this difficult time.
Please join us in praying for peace and restoration as the community begins to heal from the impact of this devastating event."
